I wrote about the new bridge in Southend road some time ago. I have seen a picture of King George opening this bridge on his way to his yacht at Burnham on Crouch. Has anybody else seen this picture? I can't remember who showed, but it must be about.

Regarding the picture of King George V opening the new bridge-have a look in search under "Southend road bridge" you will find the photo and the story of how possibly the King opened the bridge.

I remember the little turn-off from Wick Lane to the rail crossing. Around 1960-62 there was a scary derelict old house on the right as you faced the crossing gates.
