Class photograph taken by Mr Smith the Physical Education teacher in the summer of 1958. I am in the photograph and can be identified by the drain pipe growing out of the top of my head!

I left this school in 1957. A new Headteacher had not long joined and I believe she was American; I can remember her commenting on the lack of washing facilities after games, and she seemed to think we should take our gym kit home more frequently for washing! The other thing we had to do was, if we wanted to go the outdoor swimming pool in the summer, we had to be prepared to start just after Easter, and it was perishing cold at that time of the year. I don't know when they closed this pool, but it was somewhere behind Yettons and quite near the Hawk Pub road.

I was at Wickford senior school and left in 1952.  During my time there we also went to the swimming pool which was next to the river down the road besides the road besides The Hawk pub. We arrived by coach and found that the pool was covered in weed and stunk like hell.  Back to school, what a waste of time, but a break for us!

I was a pupil at this school from 3rd March 1940 until 22nd Dec 1943. Still have my final report book signed by Mr Rose the Headmaster and other teachers.

I was a pupil from 1954 till 1958. I have an almost identical photo. My form mistress was Miss Evans. My name was Barbara Billinge. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. Our form was UM4
